Robert Frost (March 26, 1874 – January 29, 1963) was an American poet. His work was initially published in England before it was published in America. One of the his famous poem is Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening.

Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound’s the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

In the title, "Stopping by Woods on A snowy Evening", we can imagine the beauty felt by speaker. He saw a scene in a very beautiful atmosphere. In this case elements related to nature become the main focus in this poem. This title means a stop by the speaker himself. This title will affect the entire contents of this poem.

In the first of paragraph "whose woods these are I thinking I know", l see in the word “these are” This indicates that he already knows about the ownership of this forest. I can see in this case, he is a man who has no forest, because he just passes this forest by horse.

The phrase "My little horse" in this case is also very important, because this horse thinks that this is all weird, "must think it queer" (line 5). This horse is like a reminder there are something he has a promise that must be kept. Due to the discomfort of the horse, "to ask if there is some mistake" (line 10), then he continue the journey. In the last stanza, it is clearly revealed that he finally decided to leave the place, because "... I have promises to keep" (line 14).

He feels that he must leave these beautiful scenes immediately, and he decides to leave because there is a promise he must accomplish, and he feels his journey is so long. He feels this is not the place where he should be so getting away from that place might be better for him.
He was willing to sacrifice his desire to be there, feeling that something bigger had been waiting for him somewhere.
It was written in the book of a collection of critical essays by James M. Cox “If he does not strike far inward, neither follow the other great American tradition (extending from Whitman through Dos Passos) of standing on a height to observe the panorama of nature and society.

My pic in Shirakawago, Japan.

In this situation remember me about my experience when l went to Shirakawago at the first time in Japan not for travel but l got a part time job for survey location. I was alone at that time. I passed lake, forests and village with snow a round l looked. It was beautiful scenes l want to stay along to enjoy that moment but l could not because l have a purpose to finish my job. That the reason why l chosen this poem l like natures and it is like described my experience at 1 year ago.

Emily Dickinson "I heard a Fly buzz, when I died"

    Kategori │University life

I want to analyze about of American literature research. this analyze I wrote in my course. it is about Emily Elizabeth Dickinson (December 10, 1830 – May 15, 1886) was an American poet. I know it is sad poetry and I little bit dislike of sadness. because I get good score for this lesson ''A'' I trying write it in my personal blog lol. I attended class of Mr. kobayasi on the 16th of May “I heard a Fly buzz, when I died”

    I heard a Fly buzz - when I died -
    The Stillness in the Room
Was like the Stillness in the Air -
Between the Heaves of Storm -

The Eyes around - had wrung them dry -
    And Breaths were gathering firm
For that last Onset - when the King
Be witnessed - in the Room -

I willed my Keepsakes - Signed away
    What portion of me be
Assignable - and then it was
    There interposed a Fly -

With Blue - uncertain - stumbling Buzz -
Between the light - and me -
And then the Windows failed - and then
I could not see to see -

Drawing scenes and moods when someone encounters death, the storyteller in this poem begins the mood of death when the fly flies through the air around her deathbed. The narrator then describes the atmosphere of the room where she was in death. In the following words there is a different atmosphere, a real opposite. The sound of a fly buzzing with a quiet room.
Trying to emphasize the parable of silence in a stormy atmosphere, Have we ever been in a storm ?, and felt how wet, warm and stifling the air after the calm we feel? Or think about the eye of the storm, the strange, silent, frightening moment that comes before the other half of the storm roars. At death, when the body is ready and death picks up, after life in the end get ready for the next surprise. The dirty bug fly, she tried to portray foreign things far from fun.
The next verse, the narrator describes the people she left behind, her closest friends, when the crying was over, when the tears had dried up, the sincerity let go, the peace. They prepare themselves for the next thing, something to come. Then comes the word “King”,who is the king? I my opinion it is Not God, the King is death itself, the death that always awaits our coming, every one.

    Emily`s quote

But the next verse, Fly appeared, flies came. When our minds are brought toward the spiritual, calm and gloomy, we are forced to re-think of the dirty little flies. Fly is not a beautiful butterfly, then what does she mean by "blue" and tripped by Buzz? We strive to focus on the "fly" that comes between the narrator and the light. There are two things to think about when reading them. The first flies come when the woman is dying and some light in the room is like a candle.
The second is that when she had spoken of a quite spiritual thing that the king appeared, it could have appeared just after the death, an uncomfortable feeling by the hum of the fly and the air given by the fly, then changed as she felt the light approaching her. Then she ended everything with her failure to see the world she once felt And then the Windows failed - and then “l can not see to see”. She has really gone, to find what we call the soul window. Is it true that death will come to us later? According my analysis in paragraph two, Yes I believe that every one will death sooner or later. The important thing is we should be prepare for that. Do the best what can l do in our life and believe the death only God know.
